Postdoc
The role
Asks why social adversity (isolation, low status, a hard start in life) brings more age-related disease and earlier death, by linking the macaques' long-term social data to DNA methylation, gene expression, proteomic and other molecular data. Mostly computational, with chances to join fieldwork on Cayo Santiago.
What the work covers
- How current and early-life social environments predict aging across tissues
- When in life individuals are most vulnerable to social adversity
- Integrating behavioural and social data with the project's molecular data
What they're looking for
- PhD in evolutionary biology, biological anthropology, genomics, behavioural ecology or a related field by the start date
- Strong quantitative skills: any of longitudinal analysis, causal inference, high-dimensional molecular data, R or Python
- No experience with primate data needed
